Description

The Marriage of Heaven and Hell is a book by the English poet and printmaker William Blake. It is a series of texts written in imitation of biblical prophecy but expressing Blake's own intensely personal Romantic and revolutionary beliefs. In his book, Swedenborg presented the argument that good and evil did exist, but that good would always triumph over evil. With The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, Blake sought to argue that both good and evil were equally valuable in the world. In general, these saying are pro-desire, pro-temptation, pro-creativity, and anti-repression. After this, four sections follow-each with the now-familiar title of "A Memorable Fancy." In the first, the speaker has dinner with the Biblical prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel.
