Few ideas are as taken for granted in modern society as the notion that people have selves. >Leslie Irvine teaches sociology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She received her PhD from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Primarily a social psychologist, her research interests include the self, the emotions, human-animal interaction, relationships, and gender.
